God of Gu

Lin Fan, a talented disciple, was once the rising star of Tianyun Sect. Out of jealousy, Fan Mubai, the young sect master, framed him for colluding with the Gu Sect. Stripped of his cultivation, Lin Fan was thrown into the Gu Sect’s dungeon to endure the torment of ten thousand gnawing Gu worms. Trapped in the dungeon, Lin Fan suffered constant agony as the Gu worms devoured his meridians and flesh. Haunting his mind were memories of the betrayal, and of his younger sister Lin Xue’er, who had been forced to host a Mother-Child Gu. This curse bound their lives together: if one died, the other would perish too. As Lin Fan neared death, the Space-Time Cicada Gu dormant in his dantian awakened. It unleashed the remnant soul of Chu Xuanji, patriarch of the ancient Gu Clan who had slumbered for three thousand years. Chu Xuanji offered a bargain: Lin Fan would cultivate the supreme scripture *Ten Thousand Gu Codex* and gather resources to rebuild her physical body. In return, she would grant him power to avenge himself and rescue his sister. Lin Fan accepted. As he activated the Ten Thousand Gu Codex, he devoured all the poisonous Gu worms in the dungeon, and the Space-Time Cicada Gu achieved its initial metamorphosis.
